Spring Inspiration

Although we still have lots of snow on the ground the days are definitely longer and sunnier so it's finally starting to feel like spring is near.

I recently bought a bouquet of tulips to shoot with a friend and have had 2 weeks of fun shooting a series. It's interesting to see the progression of the shots: being fascinated by the bright colours and elegant lines of the flowers, trying some in-camera multiple exposures, then as they aged, focus on the fine details of the "wrinkles" formed on the petals, and finally on the tiniest of parts when all else had withered.

None of the fine-detail final-stage photos would exist if I was to stop shooting when the fresh flowers faded, so take note: it's really, really important to persist and keep at it until all possibilities have been exhausted.
