So I had the good fortune to travel to Denver and then on to New Mexico, just a few miles north of the Mexican Border. My very first time in the American South West... Georgia O'Keefe's favourite stomping grounds. And just as O'Keefe did, I fell in love! The adobe style mud and brick houses are smooth and round and look soft and tactile. The afternoon light is to die for. The space is as vast as far as the eye can see. The wild horses, antelope, and sandhill cranes dot the landscape throughout the winter months. This was a joy to see and experience but what I remember most vividly is the White Sands National Park is what I remember most vividly. The pure white calcite sand dunes are kissed by the coloured light in the morning and evening in very different ways and to witness this and make something of it through photography was a joy.
Here are just a few of my shots from the trip. I suggest you visit if you have a chance. You won't be disappointed.
